There are many gadgets that are very handy in the kitchen. I prefer tools that have multi uses. Kitchen supply stores are the best place to buy these things. They are cheap and very durable. The top 5 must haves would have to be 1. Tongs 2. Wooden spoons 3. Rubber Spatula(heatproof) 4. Wire whisk with thick handle 5. Bench Scraper(or dough cutter, same thing). These are items I use every time I cook. Which items do you find you can't live without?
