We have a wonderful and informative cook's reference section here on cookingspot. If there is any tips or terms that we don't have or you would like to share with other members, this is the place to post them. We will add anything we can to further your culinary knowlege, because anybody can read a recipe, but if they don't know how to properly execute it, it won't turn out as good as it can be. Here at cookingspot.com, we strive to educate the home cook as well as provide recipes.

the term "scratch" has different meanings.
I have a dear friend this lady is about 90 yrs. old and when she married she was a very young girl. and did`nt know how to cook. she
was very jealous of her sister-in-law who could make wonderful biscuits. she asked
mary to teach her to bake biscuits like her.
mary told her she makes hers from scratch.
so the next time she went to the market
she asked the clerk she wanted 2lbs. of
scratch. another word for scratch is chicken
feed. I just bet the clerk got a good laugh
at that.
